We tend to think of bathtime as anything but a learning situation for a baby. It’s a time to get them clean and fresh, and hopefully have them not get too cranky about being wet and getting cold. But when we look at bathtime as something to “get over” as quickly as possible, we’re missing out on something special!

But if you don’t believe us how much skin-on-skin can make a difference… watch this amazing video about Jamie’s story, born prematurely at 26 weeks (warning, it’s a tear-jerker!).

Research has revealed that routine touch and massage is critical to a baby’s growth and development, communication, and learning.  The JOHNSON’S® Brand believes every baby can benefit from a loving touch. Bath time can be a perfect time to rub bellies, play with toes, and give an infant some special one-on-one bonding time with mom and dad. It can also be a great time to introduce baby to some unusual visual and sensory experiences with bubbles, wash cloths, and brightly colored bath toys!

So next bath time, don’t just rush through. Hop in the bath with baby and spend a little extra time loving your little one with a loving touch… a language that needs no words.

Anne usually speaks in memes and SAT words, and she frequently attempts to explain the laws of physics and high school chemistry according to the kitchen via her home blog FoodRetro. If you want to know why ice melts or pretzels turn brown, and you want to make food that you never imagined could be made from scratch in the process, she's your blogger. Her friends describe her as "hilarious when you get to know her," but it could be that they are just amused by the way she gets riled up when reading the paper. She can also be found playing the part of community editor and grammar nazi here on BLUNTmoms.
