I sometimes wonder what parenting is like for my partner, the father of my kids.

As a woman, I was able to bear the scars of pregnancy, and was acknowledged by the world as MOTHER as my belly blossomed (and my cankles swelled) but my husband was just an accessory to my experience.

Then when the children came into the world, he was again shifted aside.  In the hospital (as he slept on the floor for 4 nights), it was him waking up to clean up the WORST baby poop ever, while I slept soundly in my hospital bed. I  was busy recovering from the birth and eating as much vanilla pudding as I could get my hands on and he was dropped into the deep end of infant care without a helmet.

Baby showers, mommies groups and even restaurant bathrooms with change tables in them (not a lot of those for the guys), the world is built to support mothers but the daddy.

With us welcoming fathers day this weekend, we asked our BLUNTmoms what was the first moment that they saw their partner as a “daddy.”

Read below, (and read all of it, there might be a test later) and then enter to WIN a Spa Finder Gift card (for you of course). After-all Father’s Day, is a chance to give our husbands the chance to spend the day with the kids, while we hit the spa and make ourselves even more beautiful.

Here are some awe moments from the Blunt Moms:

“The moment our daughter was born he just took her and put her on his chest. He’s a bit more motherly than fatherly lol.”

“When my son fell asleep on his chest as an infant. It seems super cliche in pics but it really is a moment where you’re like “this is the life!”

“When he came home with a soother when I was pregnant with our first child. He never buys anything that isn’t a computer part, so I thought it was so sweet how excited he was.”

“Oddly, was before I was pregnant. So, I wasn’t even a Mom and he was no where near being a Dad.. I was holding a friends baby and his eyes just welled up and he said, “Oh Kyla…..”

“When my “not a crier” husband was talking about my pregnancy to a friend (I was just starting to show) and he choked up. I almost fell over”

“When my hubby used to curl up with me at night and would fall asleep with his hands all over my belly.”

“When our son was first born and he got all paranoid and over protective. I never thought I would be the relaxed parent and him the strict one!”

“When we drove home with our newborn from hospital. My husband has never ever driven so slowly. Literally we could have walked home quicker. I looked at him and remember thinking “you’re a daddy now.” First time I really saw him differently.”

“We had our first dec 29th so we were in the hospital on New years eve. I woke up to him holding her at midnight and “celebrating” the new year with her. . . it was pretty cute.”

“When I went into labor, my husband got a giant zit on his face. It was the first time I saw him stressed and it made me realize just how scared he was. Five years later he is full-on girl dad. I catch him wearing crowns and headbands, skirts and holding baby dolls without even thinking about it. I love it!”

“The first time I say my husband as a dad was when my son was born, by c-section. My recovery took hours and Dad spent the entire time holding his new baby, he was the one who wheeled him into the recovery room, pulled him gently out of the bassinet and placed him in my arms. Then he gave me some soft words on what the nurses said we should do next. We spent four days in the hospital and he did all the care for our baby, asked the nurses a million questions and filled in all the blanks I had by the time we got home. He took care of all of us.”

When you consider what you should get your partner for Fathers Day this year, remember, while you may have been “pushing,” daddy was standing by and watching (and according to my hubby that is WAY worse).  Get him something he will love, and take advantage of these GREAT deals on gift cards . . not only does he get what he wants, you look super brilliant as well!

  1. When we found out we were expecting a our first baby, he automatically started to take care of it, by buying me healthy food, keeping me calm (I have anxiety) and just being their for us. Now 7 years and 3 kids later he is still taking care of us

When My son pooped right up his back and my weak stomached husband jumped straight in to clean him up 🙂

  3. I honestly don’t remember the first moment I saw him as a father, I think he was just such a natural, even during my first pregnancy it was clear he was destined to be a dad. However, there is a moment that I remember quite fondly – when he bonded with his daughter for the first time. She was our 2nd child, I had just given birth and they had her on the table beside me doing all their checks, cleaning her up and such – she was screaming at the top of her lungs (she came out that way, that’s my girl! lol) and without missing a beat, my husband marched right over to her and stuck his finger in her mouth to suck. He stood there for probably 10 minutes in what appeared to be the most uncomfortable position holding his arm sort of sideways to not get in the nurse’s way – but he had the biggest smile on his face.

  4. When my husband first felt our baby kick in my stomach, very sweet moment. He was so excited.
