I miss sleeping

By Caustic Mom

I knew having kids would mean less sleep. I just didn’t realise it would mean a decade of it.

Too pregnant and uncomfortable to sleep.

The newborn won’t sleep.

The toddler sleeps erratically.

Pregnant again – see too pregnant and uncomfortable to sleep.

The newborn won’t sleep.

Dammit. Pregnant again. No sleeping.

The newborn won’t sleep.

The toddler won’t sleep.

The nights the toddler sleeps, the preschooler has bad dreams.

The nights the toddler and preschooler sleep, the oldest has a fever and is up all night.

When they all sleep, the dog has the runs.

I’m working out after bedtime to lose the baby weight and can’t fall asleep from the adrenaline.

Nine years and counting.

Someday I’ll sleep, right?

Right?

  1. Do you really want to know? Best sleep years are when kids are 10 to 13. Then they start going out at night and you don’t sleep waiting for them to come home! Or you do sleep, but they’re so loud when they come in that they wake you up…
